Investigative Services

Investigative Services consists of several Divisions and Units that augment the services performed by Uniform Services. Investigative Services is commanded by Captain Jeff Smith. ​ ​​

Criminal Investigations Division
The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has the primary responsibility to investigate and follow-up on crimes commited against persons and property in the City of Lawrenceville. The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of several sonstituent units.
• Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit
• Pawn Unit
• Property and Evidence Unit
The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of one (1) Sergeant, seven (7) Detectives and one (1) Crime Analyst. The Criminal Investigations Division is commanded by Lieutenant Gary Kotkiewicz

Crime Scene Investigations Unit
The Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit is comprised of one (1) civilian Crime Scene Investigator and two (2) Police Officers. CSI personnel are highly trained in the collections of evidence and forensic examination. The unit utlizes various types of specialized equipment to identify, develop, secure and package physical evidence needed for scientific evaluation and comparison. The Crime Scene Investigations Unit is supervised by Sergeant Brad Grove.

Pawn Unit
The Pawn Unit is responsible for ensuring compliance of city ordinances of all Pawn Shops and Precious Metal Dealers operating within the City of Lawrenceville. ThePawn Unit plays an important role in identifying and securing stolen property via electronic monitoring of all pawn transactions ocuring within the City of Lawrenceville. Propery and Evidence Unit
The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for recieving, organizing and maintaining all property and evidence turned in by Police Department personnel. The Property and Evidence Unit can be reached via email at Evidence.
