Historically, Lawrenceville became a hub of activity as the county seat of Gwinnett and transportation center with its early railroad. Established in 2006, Georgia Gwinnett College is the nation’s first four-year public college created in the 21st Century and Georgia’s first four-year public college established in over 100 years. In addition to offering bachelor and associate degrees in conjunction with the University of Georgia and Georgia Perimeter College, the liberal arts institution also has a number of graduate programs.
