Planning & Zoning Commission
The mission of the Planning and Zoning Department—created and powered by City Ordinance Chapter 3, Article VI - is to give assistance to the citizens of Lawrenceville, as well as future citizens, in the development of their property. We assist with code enforcement issues, special permitting issues, and ensure a safe and attractive community for all. We also make recommendations to the City Council.
Requests for rezoning, variances, special use permits, and temporary use permits are handled from this department. Planning and Zoning also issues other permits such as business licenses, beer and wine licenses, alcohol serving permits, etc.
The City of Lawrenceville's Zoning Ordinance designates specific uses of land areas as an integral part of the City's Master Plan. You’ll find a menu of links that will guide you to the appropriate Planning and Zoning Department.
Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission are currently reviewing all Lawrenceville ordinances to ensure all regulations are current. When the evaluation is complete, City Council will hear our suggestions for approval.
Citizens are appointed to positions on the Planning & Zoning Commission by the City Council and Mayor.
