Zoning is a tool for regulating the ways that land can be used. When combined with thoughtful planning, zoning can help preserve property values, promote land use compatibility, and ensure communities are functional and safe places.
The Zoning Ordinance regulates the permitted use and occupancy of property by zoning district; provides for minimum yards, lot area, and building heights; governs signs and off-street parking; and establishes minimum architectural standards for new construction.
The Planning and Development Department is responsible for Zoning Administration within the city limits of Lawrenceville, including the acceptance of rezoning, special use permit, and variance applications, producing written reports and recommendations, providing zoning information to the public, conducting public hearings, and maintaining the city's Zoning Ordinance and Official Zoning Map.
