Investigative Services

Investigative Services consists of several divisions and units that augment the services performed by Uniform Services. Investigative Services is commanded by Captain Brad Grove.

Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has the primary responsibility to investigate and follow up on crimes committed against persons and property in the City of Lawrenceville. The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of several constituent units.

  • Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit
  • Pawn Unit
  • Property and Evidence Unit

Commanded by Lieutenant Jonathan Long, the Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of:

  • 1 Sergeant
  • 7 Detectives
  • 2 Crime Analysts

Crime Scene Investigations Unit

CSI personnel are highly trained in the collection of evidence and forensic examination. The unit utilizes various types of specialized equipment to identify, develop, secure, and package physical evidence needed for scientific evaluation and comparison. Supervised by Sergeant Dena Pauly, the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit is comprised of:

  • 2 civilian Crime Scene Technicians

Pawn Unit

The Pawn Unit is responsible for ensuring compliance of city ordinances of all Pawn Shops and Precious Metal Dealers operating within the City of Lawrenceville. The Pawn Unit plays an important role in identifying and securing stolen property via electronic monitoring of all pawn transactions occurring within the City of Lawrenceville. The Pawn Unit routinely works with outside jurisdictions to facilitate recovering of stolen property. 

Property and Evidence Unit

The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for receiving, organizing, and maintaining all property and evidence turned in by Police Department personnel.
